I have been using Wilson Reading Curriculum with her to help her learn her letter sounds and blended sounds. Each week, she uses her phonics skills to read a level D text as I assess her on a Running Record. In the most recent round of RTI, this student started to meet her goal. I continued to work with her on the same goal, to ensure that it was a consistent rate of accuracy, and for four weeks in a row, she exceeded her goal!
Although she has been referred for special education services due to the slow progress, I am continuing to work with her for the remainder of the year on a new goal: read a level E text with 90% accuracy. I'm excited to see how she will perform this unofficial round!
